Local Artist opens private home to public with group exhibition raising awareness for local non-profit
Private home hosts a pop up style exhibition on Milwaukee's East Side
Milwaukee WI: Local artist Kyle J. Krueger opens his private residence to the public, showcasing 18 artists in a group exhibition. Artists of varying mediums will exhibit work that embodies concepts of the home. All three levels of the house will be accessible to the guests as artists are stationed in nearly every space of the house. Artists selected to show at the exhibition have been assigned to a specific space in the Krueger home. The artists must pull inspiration directly from these spaces.
Krueger will be gathering donations during this free event, to give to local non-profit Habitat for Humanity - focus their efforts on providing homes to those in need. Krueger explains this exhibition is a celebration of the space he has inhabited for over three years now.
“I believe we all have an impact on the spaces we inhabit. This collection of experiences I feel give a house that feeling of ‘home’.”

More About Habitat for Humanity
Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity (MHFH) builds and renovates homes for families in need of sustainable housing. Our simple, decent, and affordable homes help transform the lives of our partner families and the neighborhoods in which they live. Since 1984, we have built and repaired over 500 homes in neighborhoods across the city, and as we move forward we will focus our work in the Washington Park neighborhood. By focusing house by house, block by block, one neighborhood at a time we are better able to help our partner families make the transition to homeownership. Our homes are built with the “sweat equity” of our partner families. Depending on the size of their household, our partner families will complete between 285-495 hours in the construction of their homes and the homes of their neighbors. Since we work with first-time home buyers, a portion of sweat equity is also devoted to financial education classes, as well as working with other neighborhood groups to establish a support network that lasts long after they move in. Of course, we couldn’t do what we do without the thousands of volunteers from faith institutions, schools, corporations and civic groups that support us in every aspect of home building. Find out more about volunteering by visiting our Volunteer page. Beyond building homes, we strive to build awareness for housing need. As a leading advocate for affordable housing and the largest non-profit home builder in Southeastern Wisconsin, we strive to make access to housing a priority for the greater Milwaukee community. |
